The cost of doing business has gone up

We at Spaeth have been enduring, right along with our clients, the inflation rate of 7.9% and an increase in gas pricing in the range of $.70 per gallon + or – a few cents in the last month.

In addition, materials for maintenance and capital projects have become scarcer in the last 6 (six) months. It is not unusual for technicians on a job to be looking for materials at one nearby location (i.e., Lowe’s, Home Depot, Ace, various builder’s supply stores) and need to go to several locations to get said materials and supplies until they find what they need.

At a recent job, Home Depot ran out of drywall. Completely.

That is not taken into consideration when bidding the jobs, initially. These constant searches cost time and money and make the projects less than break even, in some circumstances.

Therefore, Spaeth will be increasing the cost of their rates on a per job basis to $65 per hour and to their landscape contracts an increase of 3 %.

This will simply cover the rising fuel prices and the rate of inflation, in the short term.

Should the average cost of gas recede to the $3.50 per gallon price, we will adjust back to our normal rates.

Thank you for your continued support.
